Soundtrack of the Month

"Many the Miles" by Sara Bareilles: a song about lasting love and the wanderlust.

There's too many things that I haven't done yet
Too many sunsets
I haven't seen
You can't waste the day wishing it'd slow down
You would've thought by now
I'd have learned something

I made up my mind when I was a young girl
I've been given this one world
I won't worry it away
But now and again I lose sight of the good life
I get stuck in a low light
But then Love comes in

How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
But send me the miles and I'll be happy to follow you Love

I do what I can wherever I end up
To keep giving my good love
And spreading it around
Cause I've had my fair share of take care and goodbyes
I've learned how to cry
And I'm better for that

Sing how far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Send me the miles and I'll be happy to
Follow you Love

Red letter day and I'm in a blue mood
Wishing that blue would just carry me away
I've been talking to God don't know
If it's helping or not
But surely something has got to got to got to give
Cause I can't keep waiting to live

How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
But send me the miles and I'll be happy to yeah
How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
Been talking to God don't know if it's helping or not
Many the miles
Many the miles
How far do I have to go to get to you
Many the miles
Many the miles
Oh send me the miles and I'll be happy to
Follow you Love

There's too many things I haven't done yet
Too many sunsets I haven't seen

Glitter, not featuring Mariah Carey

A friend of mine took these photos as part of her senior project, entitled "Glitter World". These are some of my favorites.

I can't wait for spring!

Want:

The incredible weather this weekend has put me in such a mood for spring! I can't wait for bike rides and blooming flowers!

Need:

One trend I'm really looking forward to this year are really vintage-y feminine prints, like this one that I love!

Lust:

Don't tell anyone, but I kind of like all the cute spring rompers, especially this one!

Vintage Tribute

Quelque fois j'imagine que je vis dans la passe - I love the glamour and allure of the early 20th century. This is Ruth St Dennis, an American dancer and model. Call me crazy, but I love everything about these photos.Sure, the elaborate designs may be a little Gaga, but she proves minimalism of the early 1900's is just as sexy. I love that you can just see the curve of the cuisses and fesses beneath the wet garment. It's so carefree and romantic and unusual to see a woman without any restricting undergarments romping around in the ocean.

Needs, Wants, Lusts.

Needs. Wants. Lusts.

Lusts:

I love this dress - it's a great twist on an LBD - How much more feminine can you get than a ruffled collar? I think she pulls it off without bordering on Kermit the Frog or Captain Sparrow territory. The deep-V in the back is a sexy surprise!

Needs:

Took them long enough to create it! Yep, it's really a transparent toaster! It's the end of popping up the bread every ten and half seconds to make sure it's finished only to singe it to a nice onyx black on the last two second try. Not even the dog will eat that. Please find this for me, and buy it.

Wants:

I mostly want to shake this person's head. In the midst of anti-counterfeiting drama in the fashion market, how clever is this tongue-in-cheek knockoff! I sense a new trend... If you can't tell, the "chain" is make of paperclips.

Lusts:

I don't think I even need to explain the extent to which I totally love this dress and this entire shot. It reminds me of the windows in my Paris apartment, although I wish I had been popping out with Emma Watson through the windows into the courtyard.

One last thing...
Dear Men of the World,
Even the President can't predict a good March Madness bracket...
So don't feel so bad about screwing this year up :)

A Radical Sabbatical

WELL, WELL, WELL. I think it's time to kick this thing back into gear. Fast forward two years - (yikes, has it really been that long?!!) and I'm back in the USofA. Au revoir, Paris, and I miss you every day. I must admit, life on campus as the ominous title of "postgrad" threatens to club us all over the head very, very soon is not as exciting as living in Paris, but we somehow tend to amuse ourselves to the point of swearing that if we had our own TV show we'd be making WAY more than Snookie and The Situation.

On that note, let me introduce the cast and crew of my current life. We're the crew known as "T3" - That's code for Todd, 3rd floor - which is code for late night WaWa runs and spontaneous bad decisions and pulling out the post-it note of senior year. We're a quintuplet of terror and fun and we've made it 4 years without killing each other... yet. We probably laugh too loud at lunch, we definitely stay up way too late at night, and we get our fair share of funny looks as we build 8 foot snowwomen with tassles on her tatas in the front yard of our sorority house. These are my roommates, the people that make me laugh the most and cry the least, and who usually know the right things to say. And I love them even when they don't.

There IS a best supporting actor in this picture - he'd probably want me to skip over this part, so I'll keep it brief. He's great. I've gotten to do some pretty awesome things I would have never done thanks to him, including sitting ON the court at a Knicks game, watching the Phillies celebrate their division title, stuffing myself with stuffed cupcakes, drinking copious amounts of tequila and waking up to basil, procscuitto and egg sandwiches.

I'm a very lucky girl in every way that the word "lucky" couldn't begin to express. And yet there are one too many things in this world that I haven't seen yet. I'll get there one day, but for now, I call it Wanderlust.

La Vie en Clothes...

My underwear is hanging in the kitchen.

And not just the little lacy numbers, but ALL of it. I came home from school today to see Ole Saggy Butt, ElastaGone, and OHmyGodIforgotIwasWearingtheseNoYouMayNOTPassSecondBase, otherwise known as the Libido Assasin, waving in all their glory right above the kitchen table. I want to die. I could have held my hand over my heart and recited the Pledge of Panties there were so many of them there. How did they get there, you ask? Good question. Je t'explique.

My host mother Liliane, who is very nice and very maternelle and fantastic in all ways and I really do love her, LOVES to do things for me. Which is great. She makes my meals even though she doesn't have to, packs me a lunch, shops for my favorite things, cleans my room, leaves me flowers on my desk... she's wonderful. She also does my laundry. Which is great! However, she must have noticed in the course of re-folding my clothes (which is like a daily-basis thing) that I have been stashing away my used underwear and was going to secretly wash it myself with Maddie when we had a decent amount piled up. Seeing as the two of us packed a combined total of 232,543,534 pairs of underwear to preclude having to do wash at ALL, this was going to be a while. And seeing as I've been here for 3 weeks now, it was a decent sized pile of underwear. Now, I don't really have a problem with people touching my underwear. HOWEVER... In the course of staying here for over a week now I noticed that like many French people Liliane 1, does not believe in fabric softener (great for exfoliation) and 2, does not own a clothes dryer. Nor is there space for a drying rack, or a laundry room. The result? A clothes washer in the kitchen under the microwave and household drying racks (so practical!) which include doorknobs, chair corners, fan blades (my personal favorite) and newly discovered today, ON THE KITCHEN LAMP.

Rule 11: Find a better spot to hide underwear.
